Pieter-Tjerk de Boer received the MSc degree in applied physics in 1996 and the PhD degree in computer science in 2000, both from the University of Twente, The Netherlands. Since 2001, he has been an assistant professor at the department of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Twente. His research interests include communication networks, their mathematical performance modelling and simulation, and rare-event simulation techniques in particular.
